Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

My current choice reading book is Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. The book takes place in 1986, and its about two misfits who fall in love. Elenor is the new girl with an unfavorable home situation, and Park is a quiet outsider who doesn't want to be involved. They know it won't work, but they try anyway. This book is a sweet, romantic novel and very exciting to read.

Although I haven't read very much, the characters are already very distinguished, and you can see their views and personality. I find it very interesting how the perspective can switch back and forth during an instant so you can see how Eleanor and Park both feel at that certain time. Another thing I love about the book is that it is in narrated by their thoughts. I like this because you can tell what is happening in the book from their point of view and how they feel about it. I am at the very beginning currently so it is moving slowly, but it is still interesting and making me want to read more. So far, I really like this book, and I am interested to see how Eleanor and Park will end.

On St. Patrick's Day, our school hosted a softball tournament where we played a school from New Orleans called McGhee. It was one of our first few games, so we were a little nervous going in to play. The game ended pretty quickly, and they won by over ten points. We were all let down that we had lost, but we knew that we would play them again. This weekend was our second game against them, and we went to New Orleans to play. We were all excited and nervous to play them again, but I had a good feeling about the game.              We got there, warmed up, and the game started. It started very similarly to our first game against them, so we started to loose our energy. However, my team started to get some hits, get on bases, and get some runs. We got more and more excited as we got more runs, and when we were down by three, a girl on my team hit the ball out of the park with bases loaded. We were all so excited and we ended up winning by one. It was by far the best game

Fall Break

Fall break is one of my favorite times of the year because it gives me time to relax and do whatever I want. My break started off with having a friend over to spend the night. While she was over, we went to the Episcopal football game and met up with some people there. We stayed until the very end and cheered on the Knights. After the game, we went back to my house and watched some movies.        The next day, we went to the mall. It was so much fun because we got to walk around and shop. One of my favorite stores at the mall is Sephora. We went to Sephora and tested all of the newest make-up and skin care products. After a long day of shopping, we went to the food court and got some ice cream. Once we had both gotten home, I spent the next few days relaxing and taking a break from school.

March for Our Lives Highlights: Students Protesting Guns Say ‘Enough Is Enough’ By the New York Times While reading this article describing the outcomes of the March For Our Lives protests that broke out all over the world, the New York Times informs the reader about the impact and meaning these protests had for the world. One thing that stood out to me was how widespread the cause was: “ More than 800 protests were planned in every American state, including in some gun-friendly cities, and on every continent except for Antarctica, according to a website set up by organizers ” (The New York Times). Another topic the article seemed to stress was the purpose surrounding the marches. The students from Stoneman Douglas, the school that suffered a school shooting in February, want to spread awareness about gun violence. They believe there should be thorough background checks when it comes to buying guns, and assault rifles should be banned. I chose to write about the March For Our
